K Asif has a dream to make extra some thing and his dream has fulfilled by this movie but primarily he has to loss all his properties as this was the most expensive film ever made in Indian history. Tailors were brought from Delhi to stitch the costumes, specialists from Surat-Khambayat were employed for the embroidery, Hyderabad goldsmiths made the jewellery, Kohalpur craftsmen designed the crowns, Rajasthan ironsmiths crafted the weapons, and the elaborate footwear was ordered from Agra. For the battle sequence, 2000 camels, 4000 horses and 8000 troops were used, many of them soldiers on loan from the Indian Army. Altogether the film cost Rs. 1.5 crores (58.29 crores in present terms).The music composer Naushad has given his best with Lyrics of Shakeel Badayuni and Lata Mangeskar voices has made it more melodious.Dilip kumar,Prithiraj Kapoor,Madhubala,Durga Khote,Nigar Sultana,Ajit,M. This film is by far one of the best, I have seen. One is sure to be mesmerized by the love affair, the Mughal Emperor and the India of that time. The film being in Urdu language also adds originality and aura. The dialogs and direction is superb. The voice of late Prithvi Raj Kapoor as Akbar is beyond compare. Salim, played by Dilip Kumar is one of his best known acting and film. Madhubala seems great, and I definitely feel, she rivals any modern day actress in her beauty, grace and boldness and courage.One can learn many things from this film and is sure to bring in oneself an increased understanding towards one's duties and sacrifice. A must watch for one and for all ... and do watch with keenness and each word spoken in the movie is worth it.

The songs(each one, a masterpiece) blend so beautifully with the sequences, that one is convinced that the film would be incomplete without the songs.The film moves on to the next level with the beginning of a love affair between Raju and a danseuse named Rosy(Waheeda Rehman) who is already married, but is discontented because her archaeologist husband doesn't really give a damn about her.The husband (Kishore Sahu) is shown to be deeply engrossed in the caves of Udaipur(the city where Raju is famously called "Raju guide")However,there is hardly any intimate scene between Raju and Rosy (later christened Nalini,in the film) and their feelings for each other are depicted in a very subtle manner.The characterization is so good that we sympathize with Rosy,rather than condemning her for having an extra marital affair.What happens next and what awaits Raju and Rosy is what the film is all about. Aside from the magical pairing of the lead hero-heroine, what people to this day remember most about MPK is its melodious music-which is stupendous and the Lata-Subramaniam combo as usual is in fine form. The regular family characters which we've seen numerous times by now in other flicks also provide fine support.....but the biggest reason Y MPK works is still the chemistry between newcomers Salman Khan and Bhagyashree. Young, sweet and energetic, they are just dynamite on screen together. Sooraj does a fabulous job of portraying classic "puppy love". You'll have no problem falling in love with these two and will root for 'em till the end. This was Salman's beginning to stardom, and the physical difference between today's SK and back then is huge....and believe me, u'll like this version. He was more of an actor here in MPK, and less of the male-slut we see today.
